Estimates are estimates

The calculator and the Index produce ranges from published cost tables and public wage data. They are not quotes, appraisals, insurance valuations or professional advice, and the actual price of any roof is set by a written quote from a licensed contractor. Use the figures to check quotes, not to replace them.

Data licence

The Roof Cost Index data (the tables on this site and the JSON download) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. Cite it as "Roof Cost Index (edition)" with a link to roofcostindex.com/index/. Third-party sources quoted on the methodology page remain the property of their publishers.

Matching service

We match homeowner requests with roofers we have vetted for licence and insurance. We are not a party to any contract between you and a roofer, we do not perform or guarantee any work, and we are not responsible for the roofer's estimates, workmanship or conduct. Partner registration does not create an obligation on us to send requests.

Public data services

The footprint and hail lookups query public services (county GIS, the US Census geocoder, NOAA) that may be unavailable or inaccurate; the site returns to manual input when they fail and makes no warranty about their results.

Liability

The site is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, Thomas Town Digital is not liable for any loss arising from use of the site, the data or the matching service.
